Today I did a thought project out of the book Wishcraft-How to get what you REALLY want. This is one of the books that I am reading that is in the running to be the dreaded 15 minute presentation in my class.

I did this exercise to see if it would work in a classroom setting with everyone participating (and using up valuable time). I think it might be too labor intensive for some of the “less motivated” students in the class, so I either need to dumb it down or move on with a different idea.

I did enjoy doing the exercise, and in doing it I discovered that I have (and have had) a very clear picture of what my dream living situation would be.

Alas, I have but a few of the things in my dream world (albeit very NICE things) and I am lacking in the most fundamental requirements of the dream. Not the least of which being a job/career that I like, and will pay the bills.

The dream……………..

My ideal world would be with D and R in a smallish two or three bedroom house that is almost paid for (low low mortgage) with not too many bills to weigh us down.

The property would be very private and secure, but would also have neighbors near by and a nice village feel.

We would be able to sunbathe in our back or front deck without having to worry about anyone seeing us.

I would be able to play my guitar without having to worry about noise complaints.

It would be in a VERY sunny place near water and have amazing bike and hiking trails for us to use.

Mostly warm weather would be nice, but we could handle some winter as well.

I would need a job that is not too demanding on my time or energy. It would let me use my good people skills and sense of style as well as letting me be creative and problem solve.

There would be an abundance of good food around as well as great shopping and local culture (music-art-festivals) and a nice sense of community.

The area would be rich enough to keep out the riff raff, but affordable enough for the three of us to make ourselves comfortable.

Work would only be a few miles away for both of us (biking distance would be ideal) and we would not need to use the cars all the time to do our day to day tasks.

Dana would have enough free time to bake at her leisure and take regular “fun days” with me and nice extended vacations to see new parts of the world and visit friends and family much more than we do now.

My job would have a very flexible schedule, where I would be needed and praised when I am there, but not made to feel guilty for taking my own time off.

I guess this could also be called finding neverland!

This book is supposed to show the reader how to accomplish the goal of finding there ideal and making it work in the real world.

The cynic in me is not holding my breath, but I do look forward to seeing what the author has to say.

I will post a follow up to this magical journey of self discovery when I am done with the book.

I hope the last page has the winning Lotto numbers.
